CAS HOSTS LUNCHEON FOR RETIRED ADMINISTRATORS

CIAC FALL CHAMPIONSHIPS BROADCAST LIVE
Sixteen CIAC finals will be broadcast live on the NFHS Network over the next three days. Viewing subscriptions can be purchased for the day, month, season or year. In addition, six championships will air on CPTV Sports in the week following the events. Viewers can consult www.cptvsports.org for schedules.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHES FOR ELEMENTARY LEADERSHIP CONFERENCES
Registration for the always popular elementary student leadership conferences closes on December 12th. These annual conferences feature unique, interactive lessons in communication, problem solving, decision-making and productive thinking. Choose from four college sites: Sacred Heart University in Fairfield on January 8; Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield on January 9; Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury on January 13; and Three Rivers Community College in Norwich on January 14. STATE DEPARTMENT RELEASES CCT RUBRIC FOR SESS
The Connecticut State Department of Education has released the new and improved Common Core of Teaching (CCT) Rubric for Effective Service Delivery 2014. Developed by a committee of stakeholders including numerous practicing Student and Educator Support Specialists (SESS) and administrators from across the state, the rubric serves as a companion to the CCT Rubric for Effective Teaching 2014 and captures service provider practice across a continuum of performance. COMMISSIONER PROVIDES UPDATE ON EPAC
At the November 5th state board of education meeting, Commissioner Stefan Pryor presented a comprehensive update on the work of the Educator Preparation Advisory Council (EPAC). The council, in existence since August 2012, has been working to reform the state’s system of teacher preparation, exploring policy and practice that will bring about more consistency among all of the state's educator prep programs. STATE PROVIDES MORE FUNDING FOR SCHOOL SECURITY
At the end of last month, Governor Malloy announced that an additional 445 schools would receive funds as part of the School Security Grant Program. More specifically, $22 million in state funding has been allocated to reimburse municipalities for a portion of the costs associated with security infrastructure improvements at 380 public schools and 65 private and religious schools. With this additional round of funding, the state has made a total of $43 million available for school security upgrades at over a thousand Connecticut schools. MORE
